About Restoration Counselling

Restoration Counselling was established from a passionate desire to see people who have been through immense pain and suffering from complex trauma, abuse, neglect, and losses, find healing, wholeness and restoration.

Restoration

“True restoration is to be restored to a place of wholeness and in a better condition than before.

Restoration means to be improved beyond measure.”

Therapeutic Approach

Emma values creating a safe, comfortable, calming and confidential therapeutic space. The counselling room is designed with care and attention to maintaining a quiet and soothing environment. Emma is a person-centred counsellor, who is authentic, gentle, compassionate, and affirming. She understands a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship is essential to your healing. Emma is non-judgmental, with a worldview that each person she is privileged to help is unique.

Emma is interested in understanding who you are, your story, what has happened to you, and what you need.

She works collaboratively with you and incorporates the use of evidence-based therapies, techniques, and resources. Emma continuously engages with learning and professional development, to maintain effectiveness with up-to-date research and best practice.

Emma compassionately cares for people burdened with deep pain and suffering to help bring relief, healing, hope and restoration. Over the last fourteen years, she has had extensive training and experience in assisting people to grieve, heal and recover from childhood abuse and neglect, spiritual abuse, complex trauma and losses. Emma desires to see people restored to freedom from past wounds and hurt, thriving to live a meaningful and fulfilling life. Emma counsels from a holistic and integrative framework, exploring emotional, mental, relational, physiological and spiritual areas with people.

Children are meant to be loved, nurtured, encouraged and cared for. When you have experienced childhood abuse and neglect, the past can often impact your life now. Emma supports you with a gentle, empathetic and respectful approach, building safety and stability and giving you tools to process your trauma and experience healing and restoration.

You deserve to live a life with freedom from past hurts, betrayals and abuse. You are a unique person of immense worth that is to be understood and known. Counselling can occur alongside your life, working at your pace, where you are in complete control.

Complex post-traumatic stress often results in dissociation of varying degrees. Emma continues to research widely into the methodologies to help people calm their nervous systems, become aware when they are dissociating and have ways of soothing and grounding. Of particular interest to Emma is working with people who have been diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder. An often misdiagnosed or unrecognised disorder, Emma can work with the development of internal family systems that have been necessary for surviving horrific, repetitive and extreme experiences of abuse.

Emma offers counselling for individuals, couples, and families, working with children from twelve years of age, adolescents and adults. Emma also provides clinical supervision for therapists and postgrad counselling students. She maintains Clinical Membership with PACFA and has professional membership with Complex Trauma Western Australia (COTWA). She holds a Master in Counselling Practice, a Master of Leadership, and a Bachelor of Social Science majoring in Counselling.
